Virginia Lorraine Hamm was born July 6, 1935, Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Arthur Francis & Ona Lorraine (McIllvaine) Stevenson. She married Charles Edward Hamm January 11, 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska. She and Charles moved to Kingsley, Iowa in 1964 where they have lived since arriving. Virginia dedicated her life to raising her family and serving Christ in her church, and then helped found and direct for 14 years the Alpha Center (now called Her Health Women's Center) in Sioux City to minister to young women facing unintended pregnancies. She was committed to saving the lives of the unborn. Playing the piano was something Virginia thoroughly enjoyed as she played for many events and at the Central Baptist church. She was very involved with her family and the Kingsley community always reaching out to others.Viriginia is survived by her husband, Charles, "Chuck" E. Hamm M.D., of Kingsley, Iowa, two sons, Douglas C. (Jan) Hamm of Treynor, Iowa, Thomas S. (Cathy) Hamm of San Diego, California, Elizabeth V. (Howard) Brown of Omaha, Nebraska and Susan M. (Jeff) Edgar of Kingsley, Iowa, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Frederick A. (Ann) Stevenson of Neosho, Missouri.She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to Her Health Women's Center or Central Baptist Church in Sioux City or Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska.
