. Verna was born September 22, 1918, the daughter of John &Violet (Toothman) Grubb in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended country school before going to Kingsley Public School graduating in 1937. She married George Jaacks June 21, 1938 in Remsen, Iowa. After their marriage George and Verna made their home in Kingsley, Iowa where they raised their family. George died in 1990 after which Verna continued to live in their home until going to the Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center in 2012.Verna was a member of the First Lutheran church in Kingsley. She always enjoyed playing cards, quilting and baking, was known for her sugar cookies and popcorn balls.She is survived by two sons, Clair Jaacks of Overton, Texas, Dale and his wife, Gayle Jaacks of Kingsley, Norma (Jeannie) & her husband, Richard Nielsen of Kingsley, Iowa, two grandsons, Jason Jaacks of Austin, Texas, Jeff and Kelli Jaacks of Moville, Iowa, three granddaughters, Jaci Dominowski of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Karrie (Marty) King of Sioux City, Iowa, and Kelli (Larry) Beach of South Sioux City, Nebraska, four great grandsons and two great granddaughters. Also, surviving are two brothers, Harlan (Joe) Grubb of Kingsley and Vernon and his wife, Nancy Grubb of Kingsley.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, brother, Russell Grubb, sister, Inez Preston, brother-in-law, Jim Preston and a daughter-in-law, Mary Jaacks.
