Steven C. McKibbin, 58, of rural Kingsley, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, November 11th, 2013, at Williston, North Dakota. In honor of Steve's easy going style the family requests you wear your best casual blues.Steven Charles McKibbin entered this world on June 14th, 1955, LeMars, Iowa, the second born of five children to Jimmie Harrison and Janet C. (Sutherland) McKibbin. Steve was reared in rural Plymouth County, Iowa and was a farm boy his entire life. He graduated from Kingsely - Pierson High School in 1974.He was united in marriage December 29th, 1977, Kingsley, Iowa to Madonna Vondrak. They moved to his paternal grandparents farm outside of Kingsley, and raised their three children; Joe, Melissa and Mandy. He enjoyed his time home with his family, riding horses, shooting guns and riding anything with a motor. Steve was better known as "Charlie, Charlie Horse, or the Truck Driving Cowboy" traveling coast to coast through 48 states, Mexico and Canada. Steve hauled livestock for Livestock Express, Alons Trucking, Feekes Trucking, Folken Brothers, Hanake Trucking and started his own company, McKibbin Trucking. He loved his career. He was the most efficient livestock hauler that has ever lived. Steve's fondest memories were spending his summer with his kids & his wife in truck visiting sites in many states, talking about life, and showing them sites first hand. Steve never met a stranger. If he was your friend, he was your friend for life. He was a dedicated, hardworking man, who loved his family and would assist anyone in need. Steve spent the last 2 ½ years hauling fracking sand to the oil fields of North Dakota. Steve had a million plus miles under his belt with his last truck, the Peterbilt Hilton. Happy to have shared in his life, his wife of nearly 36 years, Madonna, of Kingsley, his son, Joe McKibbin and wife, Courtney, Tiffin, IA, his daughter, Melissa and husband, Doug Parrill, Fountain Hills, Arizona, and his daughter, Amanda McKibbin of Omaha, Nebraska, 7 'grandpuppies' & adopted by heart special 'grandchildren' who called him Papa Charlie. He is survived by his parents, Jimmie and Janet McKibbin of Ida Grove, Iowa, his mother-in-law, Jeune Vondrak, Kingsley, Iowa. Siblings: Mike (Debbie) McKibbin of Marion, South Dakota, Pam (Mark) Kluver, Danbury, Corey of Kingsley, and Gerard (Mindi) McKibbin, LeMars; and several brothers and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews, cousins; Aunts: Joyce Harrison, Margaret Gernhart & Ruby Gernhart; his truck driving buddies including Paul Bliss & Vuryl Smitty & Terry Huntington. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe & Mildred (Harrison) McKibbin, maternal grandparents, Charles Sutherland & Mildred (Luscombe) Curley; father-in-law, Donald Vondrak; sister-in-law, Delores Mc Kibbin, brothers-in-law, Jerome Vondrak, Denny Vondrak, niece, Jamie, nephew, Adam. Uncles Nolan Harrison, Lewis (Bud) Gernhart, Art Gernhart, Earl Nugent, Veryl McKibbin, Bob Weber; Aunts: Lavone Nugent, & Chizuko McKibbin.
