Robert James Stratton was born February 6, 1925, the son of Chester H. Stratton and Gertrude (Krier) Stratton. Robert served as a Sergeant T-4 in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He was stationed in the Philippines during World War II receiving the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. After returning home, he became rural mail carrier for 35 years. On June 14, 1948, he married Patricia Doran at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley. They were blessed with three daughters, Mary Renner of Le Mars, Ann Dunne of Kingsley, and Regina Marie. Robert was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus Council #4968, the Nash Post 140 American Legion in Kingsley, and the Rural Mail Carriers Association.Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in his family and his Catholic faith. He also had a love for antiques, playing cards, nice trips, summers on Lake Ida in Minnesota, winters in Arizona, woodworking, clocks, and eating out. Survivors include his two daughters, Mary Renner of Le Mars, and Ann and her husband, Bill Dunne of Kingsley. His grand-children and great grand-children include, Dr. Chad Renner of Kansas City, Rob and Renae Renner and their children, Chance, Noah, and Danni of Le Mars, Cory and Mindy Dunne and their children, Camryn, Hayden, and William of Kingsley, Nicole and Travis Brownell and their children, Olivia and Anna Claire of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Jennifer and Mike Galles and their children, Isabella, John William, and Jackson Patrick of Dakota Dunes, and Gina and Jeremy Sitzmann and their children, Jordyn and Brynn of Kingsley, his brother Keith and his wife Cecilia Stratton of Newton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his daughter Regina, his parents, and his sister Vivian and her husband Cletus Kaefring.
