KINGSLEY, IOWA; Nellie Helen McCune, 90, of Kingsley, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa. Burial will be at1:30 p.m., Saturday at West Fork Township Cemetery in Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley with the family present during this time. Nellie was born December 15, 1923 to William Allen & Grace (Mumford) Hooker near Lawton, Iowa. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1941 and attended Business School in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked in Armour & Co. office until her marriage on January 13, 1946 to Dale Winfield McCune. After their marriage they farmed at Randolph Nebraska for three years after which time they moved to Lawton, Iowa where they lived until 1951. They moved to the Kingsley area in 1951 where they farmed until their retirement. In 1976 they moved to Kingsley, Iowa where they have lived since. Nellie was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing and making sugar cookies.Nellie is survived by her husband, Dale of Kingsley, a daughter Diane (Mike) Mathison, a son William (Kim) McCune, daughter-in-law, Karen McCune, five grandchildren, Brandon (Jen) McCune, Angie McCune, Missy (Larry) Curtis, Matt (Breon) Mathison, and Jess McCune, four great-grandchildren, Jack, Danny, Jenna and Dylan McCune, and two step great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Vivian. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Stahl.She was preceded in death by her son, Danny in 2010, parents, grandparents, and three, sisters, Mildred and Catherine Brinkerhoff and Frances Wallen.
