LeMars, Iowa: Jim Woods, 84, of LeMars, formerly of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in LeMars. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, with Msgr. Mark Duchaine officiating and military rites conducted by Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of LeMars, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rohdefh.com. Jim was born January 5, 1933, Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Everett E. & Etta E. (Bainbridge) Woods. Jim grew up in Kingsley graduating from Kingsley High School in 1951. After graduation he farmed for 2 years before entering the Army in September of 1953 where he served until his honorable discharge in 1955. After his discharge he returned to Kingsley where he and Patricia A. Barthole were married at St. Michael Catholic Church January 12, 1956. They made their home and raised a family on their farm in rural Kingsley. Jim continued farming until his retirement in 2002 and served on the Kingsley Elevator Board for six years. In 2003, Jim and Pat moved to LeMars where they now live. Jim was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley until moving to LeMars where they became members of St. James' Catholic Church. He was also a member of Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of LeMars. Jim loved his family and enjoyed the times they shared together, especially playing cards, hunting and fishing. Jim is survived by his wife, Pat of LeMars, three sons, Michael (Karen) of Sioux City, IA, Charles (Sis) of Clarinda, IA, Robert (Donna) of LeMars, IA, and one daughter, Kathryn of LeMars, IA, five grandsons, Matthew (Jamie), Joshua (Ashley), David (Mandy), & Dakota Woods, Chase Kounkel, and one granddaughter, Katelyn (Wayne) Thompson. Also, surviving is six step-grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Clayton Woods of South Sioux City, NE, one brother-in-law, Bill (Gene) Conaway and one sister-in-law, Peggy (Art) Poeckes. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Grace Spangler and Blanche Conaway, in-laws, Nick and Velma Barthole, brothers-in-law, Jerry (Janice) Barthole, Lee Spangler and sister-in-law, Shirley (Bill) Heidesch, niece, Diane Hemmelman and nephew, Terry Conaway.
