Mary Beth Seggerman, age 76, of Kingsley, Iowa passed away on Sunday February 14, 2016 at Kingsley Specialty Care in Kingsley. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday February 18, 2016 at the Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley with Pastor Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 pm with a DAR service held at 6:45pm at the funeral home. Mary Beth was born April 5, 1939 in Osceola, IA to Grace & Ray Allen. She graduated from Central High School, Sioux City 1957, and attended USD for two years before marrying her sweetheart Lowell Seggerman on March 8, 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived on a farm all of their married life Southeast of Kingsley. Their three children are David (Fiance Carolyn) living south of Remsen, Leslie (Husband Kevin) and her family living in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Karl (Wife Wendy) and his family living east of Kingsley. Mary Beth returned to Westmar College graduated with a BA in teaching in 1977. Then she taught music at Kingsley-Pierson CSD for two years and then at Hinton CSD for ten years. Mary Beth received her Master's Degree in School Counseling at Wayne State University then was guidance counselor at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn CSD for six years. She retired from full time teaching in 1995, then worked with Mary Baklund Insurance agency for two years and in 1998, then for two years she taught music at Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City. They are members of the Salem Lutheran Church.She was a Campfire Girls leader, Cub Scout leader, and organized the Junior Choir at the Methodist Church in Kingsley where she also served 17 years as church organist. Mary Beth served as Worthy Matron of the Garfield Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in 1968. She spent 4 years as Mother Advisor of the Kingsley Order of the Rainbow for Girls. In 1973, she was appointed Grand Organist of the Order of the Eastern Star in Iowa. She became a 50 year member of OES in 2008. She served as Regent of Pilot Rock Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution from 2000-2002. District Director of NW District ISDAR for 4 years, 4 years as State Musician and 4 years as State Committee Chairman. In 2008-2010, she was elected to serve as State Chaplain of the Iowa Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 2011, she joined Kingsley Chapter of Questers.Mary Beth was proceeded in death by her parents, Ray & Grace Allen.Memorials to be left to Salem Lutheran Youth Group or local American Heart Association.
