Marvin Duane Benson was born June 14, 1933, in Soldier, Iowa, to Alfred and Anna (Tollufson) Benson. He grew up in the Pierson and attended school there. Marvin was united in marriage to Norma June Sands on November 12, 1970, after their marriage they made their home in Pierson, Iowa.Marvin farmed during his life as well as driving a school bus for the Kingsley-Pierson School District for 33 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing cards and games, sports, loved roses and playing his piano. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, Iowa.Survivors include his wife, Norma Benson of Pierson, Iowa, two sons, Kenneth Schmidt of Pierson, Iowa, and Luane Benson and his wife, Vicki, of Steens, Mississippi, two daughters, Peggy Schmidt of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Carman Walden and her husband, Tim of Pierson, Iowa. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Struve and a sister-in-law, Anita Benson, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ernest, Bernard and his wife, Ruby, and Donald, a sister, Norma Clausen, and her husband, Bill, and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Struve.
