Marge McLarty was born July 21, 1922, on a farm outside of Whiting, IA, the daughter of Chris T. & Flora (Walther) Westergaard. She grew up in the rural Whiting area graduating from Whiting High School in 1940. She married Russell McLarty September 23, 1942 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Shortly thereafter, Russ entered the Army Air Corp where he served until his honorable discharge in 1945. After his discharge, Marge and Russ farmed near Luton until moving to Correctionville. In 1946 Marge and Russ moved to Kingsley, where they raised their family. Marge worked at the Fashion Shoppe for many years. She always dressed quite well and was very classy in her appearance. Russ passed July 11, 2007, Marge continued living in their home until July of 2016 when she went to Kingsley Speciality Care. Marge and Russ were very involved in the Kingsley community and proud to call it home. Marge was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and belonged to the UMW. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.Survivors include four children, Patricia Saltzman of North Sioux City, SD, Michael (Cherie)McLarty of Carlsbad, CA, Kathleen (Michael) Blair of Waukee, IA, Debra (Tim) Timmins, Hinton, IA. Grandchildren, Tom Saltzman, Jr., Tammy (Michael) Steemken, Brenda Saltzman, Tanya Saltzman, Adam, Megan and Shelby McLarty, April Blair, Christopher (Katie) Blair, Molly and John Timmins; 11 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Dave (Pat) Barngrover and sister-in-law, Carolyn Westergaard. Also, special friends Elaine Todd and Faye Ray, and thankful for all the kind and caring neighbors on Main street.Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russ, son-in-law, Tom Saltzman, Sr., grandson, Tim Saltzman, brother August Westergaard, and sisters, Annie Pohlman and Kathryn Behrens.
