Kingsley, Iowa: Marie A. White, 85, of Kingsley, passed Sunday, September 6, 2020 at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, IA. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kingsley, IA. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Scripture service at 7:00 p.m. all at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley. A Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Marie was born November 8, 1934, Kingsley, IA the daughter of William E. and Marie F. (Kimm) McDermott. She graduated from Kingsley High School in 1953, following that she worked as a secretary for the Creasey & Metcalf Law Office for many years. She married Kenneth W. Carel July 1, 1958, following their marriage they made their home in Kingsley. Kenneth died in an automobile accident. Marie and Dale B. White were united in marriage on December 2, 1969. Marie was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Michael Guild. She volunteered for many projects that were church related activities.
Marie was an energetic and social person who loved her job at Creasy & Metcalf Law Office because it gave her an opportunity to interact with and serve the people of Kingsley. In her later years her children and grandchildren were the center of her attention and her joy. She felt it was a gift to be independent in her own home and connected to the Kingsley community her entire life. She loved sharing stories with her friends and family.
Marie is survived by her by her 3 daughters, Susan (White) Williams, Eugene, OR, Tracy (Carel) Mayberry and Theresa Carel-Useldinger both of Colorado Springs, CO, and one son, Kenneth Carel, Jr. of Corpus Chrisiti, TX, nine grandchildren, Carelyn, Katelynn, Kenny, Laurel, Jackson, Lucas, James, Aubrey and Danielle.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Kenneth W. Carel and Dale B. White, and her siblings, Michael, Loretta, Francis, Leo, Robert, Mary, Dale, Vincent & Betty, Marie was the last surviving child of Emmett and Marie (Kimm) McDermott family.
In lieu of flowers memorials made to JDRF which does research for treatment and cure for Type I diabetes or memorials to the family may be sent to Rohde Funeral Home which will be forwarded to the family.
