Margaret was born October 15, 1932 to Laurence and Clara (Manker) Baker near Correctionville, Iowa. She was educated in country schools in that area and married Lewis (bud) Gernhart in 1949. To that marriage, four sons were born. They farmed around the Kingsley area until Bud retired in 2004 when they moved into town. They enjoyed being "winter Texans" for a number of years about that time and continued to keep in touch with many of those friends.Farming and raising four sons kept her very busy in addition to the fact she worked for a number of years at the Kingsley Veterinary Clinic and later at the Post Office. Margaret enjoyed gardening and flowers, fishing and dancing. She was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Her greatest joy was spending time playing cards- especially with family. She loved to cook and have family gather for holidays and birthdays. She was easily talked into a trip to the casino and always seemed to be a winner!! After Bud's death, Margaret enjoyed bingo and lunch or dinner with friends in Kingsley.Margaret is survived by her four sons- John (Sue) Gernhart of Moville, Ron Gernhart (special friend, Dianna) of Tomah, WI, Dale (Shelia) Gernhart of Sioux City, and Gary (Sarah) Gernhart of Elk Horn, NE.
