Lois May franklin was born on January 24, 1927 on a farm in rural Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Nancy (Miller) Klingbeil. She was raised on the Klingbeil family farm in henry Twp. Of Plymouth co., Iowa with her sister, Evelyn, and brother, Harlan. After attending Henry #1, Tilden #3, and two years at Marcus High School, she graduated from Union township High School in 1945.On August 21, 1946, Lois and J. Darrell Franklin were married at Trinity Lutheran church, rural Marcus. They made their home on the Klingbeil family farm where they raised their four children: Ken, Dan, Jean and Diane. Lois worked as a cook at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee for many years. She was active member of Trinity Lutheran Church south of Marcus until retiring to Kingsley when she became a member of First Lutheran Church.Lois and Darrell retired to Kingsley in 1980 and became caretakers of the Kingsley Cemetery. Lois loved family gathering and organized many reunions. She and Darrell enjoyed many trips with the most special ones including searching for family history, visits to Precious Moments chapel, and visiting family a distance away. Lois was always busy doing something whether it was Hobby Club, TTT, fundraising for AAL, participating in church activities, putting together puzzles, creating albums of family pictures and records, and making quilts for grandchildren and great grandchildren. Three words to describe Lois would be faith, family and friends as they were very important to her. Darrell passed away in June of 2000. Lois continued to live in Kingsley and then later moved to Char Mac Assisted living in Lawton. In 2013, Lois moved to Kingsley Nursing and Rehabiliation Center where she passed away surrounded by her family on August 28, 2014.Lois is survived by her four children, Ken(Linda) Franklin of Shellsburg, Iowa, Dan Franklin of Ames, Iowa, Jean (Richard) Hoyt of Kennewick, Washington, and Diane Schoenrock of Hinton, Iowa and special friend, Dan Wisner, eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Pablo) Bobay, Stacey (Brad) Fortune, Kristin Franklin, Michael Franklin, Jessica (Garth) Hensleigh, Sarah (Sean) Ball, Ashley Schoenrock and special friend Mike Phelps, and Zachary Schoenrock; eight great- grandchildren, Connor Bobay, Miranda Fortune, Anika Fortune, Will Fortune, Morgan Hensleigh, Jadyn Ball, Connor Ball and Ashlynn Ball. Lois is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Letsche of Marcus, Iowa, and brother, Harlan (Beverly) Klingbeil of LeMars, Iowa, three sisters-in-law, Elaine Creasey of Kingsley, Iowa, Marylee Franklin of Sioux City, Iowa, and Eileen Franklin of Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, her parents, Fred and Nancy Klingbeil, and son-in-law, Curtis Schoenrock.
