Jeanette Nissen, 76, of Pierson entered peacefully into God's kingdom surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Jeanette Marie was born on February 19, 1940 in Turin, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Colista (Appel) Westcott. She was raised in Moville, Iowa and graduated from Moville High School in 1958. On March 3, 1961, she married the love of her life, Gunther Lorenz (Lorny) Nissen at Trinity Lutheran in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home in Pierson, Iowa and were married for 56 years. They attended Salem Lutheran Church. Together they raised their four children, Kevin, Steven, Larry and Linda. She spent her life as a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an amazing cook and loved hosting family gatherings at her home. She always prepared delicious meals and desserts for her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of the most favorite things for her to do. She enjoyed planting flowers and gardening with her husband, Lorny. They also worked together to build a beautiful garden to honor their daughter, Linda. Jeanette also provided support of the family business by working as a bookkeeper for 45 years. She was a continual caregiver for all her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gunther Lorenz (Lorny) Nissen of Pierson, Iowa, three sons, Kevin Nissen and his wife Linda of Tea, South Dakota, Steven Nissen and his wife Sandra of Kearney, Missouri, and Larry Nissen and his wife Maureen of Moville, Iowa. ; eight grandchildren, Megan and Mitchell Nissen of Tea, South Dakota, Breannah Nissen and her fianc, Keith Ringer of Troy, Missouri, Camrin, Jillian and Zachary Nissen of Kearney, Missouri, and Jaci and Matthew Nissen of Moville, Iowa; one sister, Phyllis Sieling and her husband Bob of Palm Coast, Florida; two nieces, Pam Patton and her husband Jeff of Heber City, Utah and Deanna Sieling of Palm Coast, Florida, one sister-in-law, Beverly White and her husband Reginald of Dallas, Texas; two nephews, David and Gary White and one niece, Melissa White of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Colista Westcott and her daughter, Linda Nissen.
