James was born February 16, 1943, Dunlap, IA, the son of Leo and Berniece (Strait) Wimmer. He grew up in Dunlap, IA, then moved to Mapleton and then to Anthon, graduating from Anthon-Oto in 1963. All while working on the family farm. On July 10, 1971, he was united in marriage to Kay Lau. They made their home in Kingsley, IA, and James started working at Page Silo. He then switched to IBP in 1974 and retired in 2007. After retiring James and Kay took on the role as a drop-in daycare for their nephews and nieces and picking them up at school. He was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
James is survived by his nieces Monica Eldridge and Lisa (Robert) Parrish, great-nieces, Amy (Jerry) Grubb, Jenny (Jeremy) Eickholt, Amber (Chris) Rawlins, Sarah Johnson, and great-nephews, Randy (Amber) Eldridge and Mike (Tasha) Eldridge, sister, Renee (Deet) Anderson, brothers, Marvin (Kay) and Kelly (Raylina) and many great-great nieces and nephews, along with a few great-great-greats.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Kay, parents, Berniece and Leo Wimmer, in-laws, George and Lydia Lau, brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Janice Wimmer, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Wallace Eldridge, and nephew Randall Eldridge.
