PIERSON, IOWA: Hilda K. Dragoo, 95, of Pierson, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Kingsley Speciality Care, Kingsley, Iowa. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Iowa . Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Burial will be at Rock Brank Fairfield Cemetery, rural Correctionville, Iowa. Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa is handling funeral arrangements. Hilda was born August 6, 1922, the twin daughter of Ernest H., Jr. and Katie (Bauer) Schaeffer, on a farm east of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Correctionville, IA. She attended Rutland # 8 School which is now a home in Pierson, IA. Hilda graduated from Pierson High School in 1939, after graduation she continued to live on the farm she was raised on. On May 4, 1948 she married Orlan Dragoo in Kingsley, IA, after their marriage Hilda and Orlan farmed in the Rock Branch area until purchasing a farm from her aunt, Hulda Rarick which was 3 ½ miles southwest of Pierson, IA. Hilda was very active in helping Orlan with farming chores and raising livestock, along with raising a very large garden each year which she gave great care. The farm is now a century farm. Hilda was a 6 ½ year member of Woodbury County Farm Bureau, a 74-year member of American Legion Auxilary where she held the office of treasurer for 27 years. She and Orlan belonged tto the Kingsley Swingers Square Dancers and she wrote articles for the Iowa State Square Dance Magazine for 5 years. Also, she belonged to the Pierson Federated Women's Club. Hilda is survived by her twin sister, Hulda Anfinson of Kingsley, IA, and a sister-in-law, Erma (Phillip) Severson of Sioux City, IA, and many nieces and nephews, and several friends. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orlan who passed away in 1992, and brother and his wife, and two sisters.
