Harold L. Schoenherr, 81, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at his residence in Sioux City, Iowa. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Grand Meadow Cemetery, rural Washta, Iowa. Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa, is handling funeral arrangements.Harold was born July 13, 1933, Mapleton, Iowa, the son of John and Anna (Gollhofer) Schoenherr. He married Carol Nafe December 14, 1961. After their marriage Harold and Carol made their home in Sioux City, Iowa. Harold worked at the Sioux City stockyards for many years and later the Sioux City Journal. He was known as "moped Grandpa" be of his use of a moped to travel around Sioux City.Survivors include his wife, Carol of Sioux City, one son, Dan Schoenherr and his wife, Bernadette of Sioux City, and one daughter, Becky Thompson and her husband, Brad of Sioux City, and two grandsons, Joshua and Austin Schoenherr. Also surviving, one brother, Jerry (Susan) Schoenherr of Mapleton, Iowa, three sisters, Joanne (Ron) Roberts, Omaha, Nebraska, Darlene (Harry) Grochowski of Atlanta, Georgia and Marcella (Norb) Seitz of Omaha, Nebraska.Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John and his sister, Mildred Vogelzang
