Glen O. Bubke, 99, of Kingsley, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at his residence. Glen was born January 1, 1919, Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Emil and Anna (Petersen) Bubke. He grew up in the Battle Creek area before going to the Army Air Corp on June 11, 1942, after he was drafted. During his military service he was stationed in Alaska until his honorable discharge on November 10, 1945. Following his discharge, he returned to the Ida Grove, IA area where he farmed. On January 22, 1949 he married Lanore Wienert, following their marriage they moved to a farm outside of Kingsley, IA. It was there that they raised their family and farmed until their retirement. Glen enjoyed farming, but his favorite part was feeding cattle. Lanore passed away March 15, 1996, following her death, Glen continued to live on the farm until his death. Glen was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, IA and the American Legion Harrison F. Pedersen Post 291 of Pierson, IA. Survivors are his son, Gordon (Susan) Bubke, Pierson, two daughters, Glenda (Larry) Larger, Pickerington, OH, Karla Gruis, Bonita Springs, FL, eight grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, Ann, Renee`, Monica, Adam, Jason and Andrew, twenty great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Glen had a special friend for the last eighteen years, Phyllis Schmidt who helped Glen with many things. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lanore, daughter, Gail, two great grandchildren, Tyler and Benjamin. Also, preceding Glen were four brothers, Irvine, Elmer, Marvin and Raymond, two sisters, Ella Barvard and Irene Thornhill, a son-in-law, Scott Gruis.
