Donald Arthur Pratt was born November 7, 1917 on the family farm in Elkhorn Township near Kingsley, Iowa. He was one of ten children born to George Arthur and Mary Agnes (Conley) Pratt. He attended country school and graduated from Union Consolidated School. He served in the United States Army during World War II from January 1942 to October 1945. During the last year and half of the war he served in European campaign. He was awarded a bronze star.Don was united in marriage to Vonnie Opal Dugan on December 31, 1942 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Don and Vonnie farmed in the Kingsley area from 1946 until 1982 when they retired to Pierson. Don enjoyed family gatherings and tried never to miss a Pratt and Bainbridge picnic having attended the very first one in 1920. Don and Vonnie enjoyed traveling in their camper throughout the western United States and Canada. Vonnie passed away May 9, 1989. In 2009 Don moved to Rolfe, Iowa and spent his last years in the West Bend Care Center. Survivors include a son and his wife Michael and Lana Pratt of Rolfe, Iowa; a daughter and her husband Katheryn and Lyle Spencer of Goldfield, Iowa; son-in-law Larrie Fetter of Longmont, Colorado; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Julie Pratt, Jarred and Kari Pratt, Michael, Jr. and Kate Pratt, Camille and John Lewis, and Jay Geiger; great grandchildren, Samantha Lewis, Luke Lewis, Travis Pratt, Todd Pratt, Vonnie Ann Pratt, Emerson Pratt, Aida Pratt, and Alex James Pratt. Don is also survived by 4 brothers and their wives: Lyle and Marion Pratt of Washta, Clarence and Dorothy Pratt of Aurelia, Orlin and Ellen Pratt of Remsen, and Richard and Donna Pratt of LeMars; sister-in-law Patricia Pratt of LeMars; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Vonnie; his daughter Vonnie Jane Fetter; a brother and wife Wyndom and Charlotte Pratt; a bother Robert Pratt, 3 sisters and their husbands Erma and Leonard Plendel, Iona and Justin Sudtelgte, and Dorothy and Wendell Rainboth.
