Don Asher Collins was born February 3, 1923 in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of John and Laurel (Alger) Collins. He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1939 and served his country aboard the USS North Carolina. Don married Gladys Kisting in Moville, IA, October 28, 1949. After their marriage, they farmed east of Kingsley until moving to farm north of Grand Meadow in 1960. In 2000 Don and Gladys retired from farming and moved to Le Mars. Gladys passed away December 5, 2003. Since 2011, Don has lived in Monticello, AR. Don was a member of the Meadow Star United Methodist Church, American Legion, Nash Post, Kingsley, IA and a Masonic Member (50+ years) Cosmos Lodge, Kingsley, IA.Survivors include his four sons and their wives, Ric and Bonnie Collins, Marcus, IA, Rob and LeAnne Collins, Milford, IA, Ron and Carol Collins, New Orleans, LA and Ryan and Allison Collins, Monticello, AR; Eight grandchildren, Steve and Stacey (Collins) Evans, Ben Collins and Chandell Hicks, Nate and Michelle Collins, Jon Collins, Asher and Katie Collins, Cody and Alicea (Collins) Parks, Tyler Collins and Logan Collins. Seven great-grandchildren, Stephanie Evans, Kelsey Evans, Kaden Evans and Kyan Evans, Cambrie Kleckner, Shelby Kleckner, and Carsyn Collins. Sister-in-law, Francis Collins.Don was proceeded in death by his wife, Gladys, parents, John and Laurel Collins, brother, John Iliff Collins, sister-in-law Elizabeth Collins, and brother, Charles Collins.
