Dana M. Sitzmann

August 24, 1966 — October 5, 2024

Kingsley, IA

Dana M. Sitzmann, 58, of Kingsley, passed away unexpectedly, October 5, 2024. Dana Mark was born August 24, 1966, to Dennis and Dorothy (Goeke) Sitzmann. He graduated from Kingsley Pierson High School with the class of 1985. He then went on to graduate from Dordt College with a business ag degree. Dana loved all aspects of farming, started helping his dad at a young age, and knew all along that farming was what he wanted to do. He also learned aspects of construction; working for Mark and Blaine Kuchel for a while to help pay for college.

On August 12, 1989, he married Linda Grimmius. They were blessed with 2 children, Ashley and Tyler and was thrilled when years later he could hold his first grandchild Thomas. Dana was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church and was involved in several committees. The Administration board, Finance chair, Youth group and sun rise breakfasts. If you ever attended the soup supper in late spring, for several years, you could count on Dana being in charge making sure everything ran smoothly. Dana also served on the elevator board for a number of years. If someone called and asked him to help whether it was on a committee or just a friend needing help, he never hesitated. He was there.

Dana enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it was going out to eat or sitting in his binzebo. He loved going to his kid’s activities and supported them in what they enjoyed. Dana was not fond of traveling, but we are thankful we have fond memories of the trips that we were able to go on together.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda of Kingsley, IA, daughter Ashley (Moises) Vanegas-Reyes and “little man” Thomas of Sioux Falls, SD, son Tyler Sitzmann, of Norfolk, NE, parents Dennis and Dorothy Sitzmann of Kingsley, IA, brother, Dave (Andrea) Sitzmann of Sherburn MN, and sister Dani (Drew) Beelner of Kingsley, IA. Brothers-in-law, Don Grimmius, Larry (Julie) Grimmius, sisters-in-law, Jean (Lawrence) Getsinger, Paula (Kevin) Stevens. Several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and extended family.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Rosemary Sitzmann, and Elmira & Verle Paulson, father and mother-in-law, Bert and Annie Grimmius and brother-in-law Henry Grimmius.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsley Fire Department & Ambulance Service, or the charity of your choice.
