Dale was born June 29, 1930, in Burke, SD, the son of T. S. & Dena (Vogt) Leekley, and as a young child his family moved to Iowa. He graduated from Westfield Community High School, Westfield, Iowa, in 1949. Dale served in the Iowa National guard from 1948 until 1952. He attained the rank of sergeant. On September 2, 1952 he married Corrine Dickman in Danbury, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in the Danbury area, Grand Meadow, Bronson and Westfield before moving to Kingsley in 1973. Dale worked as a farmer, sheep shearer, and a trader before retiring. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Corrine of Kingsley, IA, his children, Susan (Gordon) Bubke of Pierson,IA, Donna (Bill,Sr.) Garvey of South Sioux City, NE, Duane (Jodie) Leekley, of Westfield, IA, Joseph (Julie) Leekley of Pierson, IA, William Leekley of Kingsley, IA, Lori (Lynn) Hamil of Remsen, IA, Joan (Brad) Collins of Hinton, IA, Carol (Doug) Wagner of Elk Point, SD, Janet (Shawn) Schreiber of Aurora, CO, Lisa (Mike) Burr of Marthasville, MO & Robert (Nikki) Leekley of Pierson, IA. Dale is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Ethel (Stan) Krosch of Kingsley, IA, Polly (Joe) Smith of Danville, KY and Leola Muller of Sioux City, Iowa.Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Thea Leekley, a brother, Edmund "Buzz" Leekley, a grandson, Andrew Schreiber and a great-grandson, Tyler Bubke.
