Connie E. Hoppe, 91, of Kingsley, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Correctionville, Iowa with Rev. Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, rural Correctionville. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley. Online condolences to the family may be directed to www.rohdefh.com. Connie Elaine Paulsen was born March 8, 1926, rural Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Walter H. and Della H. (Jensen) Paulsen. She grew up in the Correctionville area, she attended Anthon High School as a freshman where she was homecoming attendant, Her sophomore year she attended Cushing graduating from Cushing High School in 1944. After graduation from high school she attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa where she earned her teaching certificate. After earning her teacher certificate, she taught country school for two years in Cherokee County and one year in Woodbury County. She married Frank Hoppe May 26, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cushing, Iowa. Connie and Frank owned a farm in rural Correctionville where they farmed and raised their family. Connie was an important of farming where she helped Frank with many of the various chores and jobs related to farming and raising a family. She helped haul corn and unload it, raised chickens, and grew a big garden. Their farm became a century farm in 1993, they continued to farm until 1997 when they moved to Kingsley, Iowa. After moving to Kingsley, Connie and Frank became members of the Salem Lutheran Church. Frank passed away September 1, 2016. Connie cleaned houses for many years, enjoyed dancing, bus tours, playing cards, walking and visiting with family and friends. She was especially fond of embroidering. Connie took a great deal of pride her embroidery; she embroidered a quilt for each of her daughters and granddaughters. Connie is survived by daughters, Nancy Brodie, Sioux City, IA, and Jane (Kim) Dreyer, Algona, IA, sons, Gary (Kathy) Hoppe, Correctionville, IA, and John Hoppe of Pierson, IA, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan Brodie, Tyler, Brooke and Sidney, Sioux City, IA, Erin (Darin) Radcliff, Grace, Wes and Sully, Spirit Lake, IA, Nate (Missy) Dreyer, Lucas and Lucy, Fenton, IA, Kate Dreyer, Pella, IA, Marissa (Tony) Hager, Braxton, Granger, IA, Heidi (Dean) Neubauer, Minneapolis, MN, Colin (Liz) Hoppe, Emmetsburg, IA, Jacque (Jordan) Bird, Paullina, IA and Catelyn Hoppe, Pierson, IA. She is also survived by a brother, Dennis (Sara) Paulsen, Marino Valley, CA, a sister, Alice Paulsen, Cushing, brother-in-law, Luverne Buley, Council Bluffs, IA, along with other cousins, family and many friends. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank, grandson, Brad Brodie, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Hoppe, her sister, Phyllis Paulsen, two brothers, Norman Paulsen and Harlan Paulsen and his wife, Alice, nieces, Marjorie Paulsen, Shelly and Kelly Paulsen, Jennifer Hagey , Barbara Linn and nephew, Vern Buley. Memorial may be directed to the Salem Lutheran Church, Heartland Care Center, St. Croix Hospice, or the Leavitt Center at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City, IA.
