KINGSLEY, IOWA: Brent A. Donaldson, 58, of Kingsley, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 with Rev. Duane Miesner officiating at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Rohde Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. Rohde Funeral Home is handling all funeral arrangements. Condolences may be directed to www.rohderh.com.Brent was born June 13, 1956 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Blaine and Dorothea (Dilley) Donaldson. He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1974. Brent was an active participant in multiple sports including football, track, baseball and tennis. He played football for two years for Buena Vista College before getting injured. He graduated from Buena Vista College where he received his B.A. in communications.He married Deb Strachan in August of 1981. After their marriage Brent and Deb lived Ida Grove, Iowa for 12 years where Brent worked at Gomaco and Deb taught at the public school. They moved to Kingsley in 1993. Brent was very active in his children's activities, he served as a coach for softball, baseball, flag football and soccer for Laura, Tyler and Clint, and this lasted over a fifteen year period.Brent was currently working at Artisan Press in Sioux City, Iowa and had worked there for a number of years. He was very knowledgeable about the printing business and was very attentive to all of his customers.Brent is survived by his wife, Deb, of Kingsley, one daughter, Laura (Joe) Schanz of Chicago, Illinois, two sons, Tyler Donaldson of Ames, Iowa and Clint Donaldson of Iowa City, Iowa, his mother, Dorothea Donaldson of Kingsley, Iowa, one brother, Brian (Laura) Donaldson of Sumner, Iowa , sister-in-law, Nancy (Richard) Brunson, and brother-in-law, Scott (Louise) Strachan. Also, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.Brent was preceded in death by his father, Blaine, his grandparents, a brother-in-law, and his father and mother-in-law, Lincoln and LaVera Strachan.Memorials may be directed to Kingsley Little League or Hospice of Siouxland.
