Betty was born April 15, 1924, the daughter of Harvey and Nellie (Bainbridge) Bowman near Kingsley, Iowa. After attending country school as a child, Betty graduated from Union High School in 1942. She was a long time member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church.Betty became the wife of Vance E. Spink on December 11, 1945 at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. After their marriage they lived in the Moville and Kingsley area. Vance died in 1999. Betty took great pride in her home. She loved to cook and bake. Her homemade chicken and noodles were always prepared for visiting grandchildren. Cookies, cake or bars were on hand for anyone stopping by for a visit. Betty also enjoyed knitting, embroidery work and card playing. She lived at the Kingsley & Nursing Rehab Center for the last 2 years.Surviving her are her children, son, Delbert Spink of Park Rapids, MN, and daughter, Sharon (Fred) Sands of Moville, Iowa. Also, seven grandchildren, Holly Spink Gibson, Chad Spink, Rick Spink, Tracy Sands, Todd Sands, Trudi Sands Greaves & Tara Sands Borchers, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandsons. She has two sisters, Edna Carlson and Joyce Thomson both of Kingsley, and one brother, Jack (Helen) Bowman of Kingsley, and several nieces and nephews.Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vance, a sister, Lois Powell and a great - grandson.
